Size 1020mm X 760mm

This painting is one of a series that were inspired after spending time in the beautiful Drummond Gardens. I was particularly caught up in the drama of the blue colour, which was picked out by the played of the light on the shiny leaves. Size 1000 mm x 1040 mm

I painted this work during my stay in Oman and in honour of the Sultan of Oman, and the way he steers his amazing country.

I wanted to convey the velvet texture of the roses I was working with and to allow the viewer to be mesmerized, as I was with the layer upon layer of exquisitely folded and wrapped petals.

This piece of work sold to a dear lady, who has travelled extensively with her work. It left Oman for Nigeria and has for the time being settled now in Chennai. I think of her every time I look at this photo and wonder how many miles it will travel with her Size 1100 mm x 1450 mm

Another piece of work that flowed from a corner of tired old oak leaves in Drummond Gardens, in Edinburgh. I was completely captivated by the stunning shapes and the final throws of former colour, faded, yet still visible amidst the advancing antique brown hues of Autumn. I am a particular lover of oak leaves, with a delicacy that seems a surprising contrast to the marked strength a mighty Oak tree exudes. Size 740 mm x 740 mm each - Diptych

For as long as I can remember, I have been fascinated by Hydrangea plants and in particular the green coloured variety that I have chosen to celebrate here in this diptych. The flowers change by the day, with each individual petal taking on new colours, and the change in the dynamics that results from this. Size 740 mm x 740 mm each - Diptych

Right part of the Jungle Embarace Diptych Size 50 mm x 62 mm

This piece was painted in Gabon in Central Africa. This was home..Monkey Road to be specific...a strange and bijoux street which was on the Shell Oil residence camp, in the heart of the Rainforest. The drama of the surrounding jungle and the privilege of being so immersed in Nature brought a strong new dynamic to my work.

From a pure white lilly, came a drama that I had not anticipated and on later inspection, clearly defined and beautiful Angel wings. Size 54 mm x 66 mm

Another piece painted in Gabon and reflecting the power, of the surrounding jungle environs. This painting stirs up the feelings of just standing and looking through the leaves, trunks and creepers and beyond into the depths of the jungle. If the monkeys, and their demanding chatter are temporarily away, only the cracks of branches give indication of the life concealed. You wonder how the areas of elephant devastation and huge footprints have arisen from such stillness. As long as you are prepared to stand, life reveals itself in its purest and simplest way, daily thinking ceases and you allow yourself to merge with it all. Size 900 mm x 750 mm

I was so captivated by the depth of this flower that I decided I had to focus on the centre and the way that the flower takes us into its heart. You feel yourself drawn inside to a stillness, far beyond the elaborate petals. Size 1050 mm x 900 mm

This work shows my fascination for uncovering the hidden colours in a simple white bloom. I wanted to create a depth and drama adding strong petals in the background and allowing me to play more with the darker hues. Size 600 mm x 800 mm

These paintings are a Triptych (Parts 1 2 and 3 )

These flowers are particularly delicate and yet they have such a powerful energy. From clusters of luminous buds spring forth waxy petals, strong and individual and yet making up part of the whole bloom. I particularly wanted to convey the message in this piece that even with heads turned in opposing directions and with so many different stages of flowering, the bloom is united. Size 1400 mm x 1000 mm

This piece was painted whilst I was living in the beautiful Sultanate of Oman in the Middle East. The azure sky, turquoise seas and mountains of every hue imaginable always made their way into my work. I had intended here to depict a pastel bloom and in the end welcomed in influences around me, with a smile. Size 1800 mm x 1200 mm

Roses have a fascinating way of enticing the onlooker deep inside, with their delicate and unending wrapped petals. In this piece of work, my intention is to lure the viewer in the same mesmerizing way. Size 1570 mm x 1320 mm

I\'ve often walked though Edinburgh\'s Drummond Gardens and marveled at the tiny Spring flowers that make their way through the final remnants of Autumn leaves on the ground and a hard packed and frosty soil. They do it every year, despite the harsh conditions and lighten our hearts with their resilience. Whilst they appear bright and gentle and giving, I wanted to paint them more from the perspective I view them as the open armed giants they are. Size 900 mm x 1050 mm

Size 1400 mm x 1000 mm

This tulip had such a strikingly powerful presence and I wanted to capture the way it almost reached out to the viewer. There was so much drama unfolding within the flower itself that I chose to keep a light background, with just the merest hint of turquoise, which sneaks into every piece of my work. Size 710 mm x 610 mm

In this work, I\'ve again played with my love of green hues and contrasted that with nut brown and burn orange to enhance the contrast between the surface and the layering of the plant detail ,that seemed to go infinitely on. I hope the viewer will fall into the painting, as I do when I look at it. There is no question of lingering on the periphery, this piece is about being embraced fully, 360 degrees, by Nature. Size 1000 mm x 1200 mm

This painting was inspired by the emergence of Spring and the gentle colours that herald the seasonal blooms. I tried here to keep my palate quiet, with only a blaze of purple and orange in the top left, indicating the sometimes unexpected shades of life. Size 1200 mm x 800 mm

The fragrant Frangipani blooms in Oman always delighted me. No matter seemingly, the heat of the sun, nor the dusty-ness of the soil, the Frangipani flowers graced stark branches with waxy and perfect flowers, spreading a heady aroma of sweet fragrance. I wanted to delve deeper into the whiteness of the flowers and to depict the illusions of the surrounding colours inter-playing with the pureness of the willing flower. Size 600 mm x 400 mm

Size 800 mm x 600 mm

Size 750 mm x 900 mm

In this diptych of sensuous red Amaryllis, I most wanted to capture the passion these sculpted flowers exude. They convey an intriguing essence of love and its complexities and what lurks beneath; from the deepest and richest reds to the delicate pink that tips the velvety petals. There is a hypnotic enticement that guides your from the lightest shades to the innermost depth and richness Size 750 mm x 900 mm

In this diptych of sensuous red Amaryllis, I most wanted to capture the passion these sculpted flowers exude. I wanted to represent this flower in the most 3-dimensional way I could, so that the viewer has the feeling of being able to walk within the petals and to feel encapsulated in almost a jungle-like way, so that time and thoughts would cease for so long as you can hold yourself there. I have given prominence to shadows to enhance this. Size 600 mm x 800 mm

The lure of this flower is the warmth that radiates from the core and by the way the petals dance around it, to invite you in. There is so much more to this flower than idle petals and for the reason I painted with and added depth of colour to capture the hidden power. Size 1450 mm x 1100 mm

I love the Iris, with its sculpted form and wanted to convey this through this piece. My intention here is that the dramatic angle and the intensity of the blue strike a powerful chord. This piece has somewhat of an animal feel to it, such is the power emanating from it.
